An individual who laced candy with tranquilliser and provided them to children at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two children aged between nine and ten.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on recently.

However, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on 28 November.

'Treat game'

Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.

The defendant played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.

She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in July 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepson had concerns about the situation, justifiably.

"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC stated materials including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the police about his concerns.

She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she added.

The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.

Mrs Prior stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the authorities again.

She explained the man then played the "candy game" in a space of five minors.
