Manchester Synagogue Incident: A Casualty Appears to Have Been Fired Upon by Police
In a tragic turn of events, a victims killed at the Manchester synagogue attack appears to have been fatally wounded by law enforcement personnel.
Official Statement Reveals Gunshot Wound
The senior officer from the local force stated that a forensic expert has provisionally determined the man died of a bullet injury.
“Overnight, we have taken advice from the Home Office pathologist before detailed autopsies scheduled for later today. The expert has advised that preliminary findings show a victim would appear to have suffered a wound matching a gunshot injury.”
Attacker Information
The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, did not have a gun, and all discharged rounds were by authorized firearms personnel at the scene.
It is believed the deceased was among those behind the synagogue door seeking to prevent the attacker from gaining entry.
Consequences of Police Action
“Thus, it appears that subject to additional analysis, this injury was unfortunately incurred as a unintended and heartbreaking result of the necessary rapid response taken by our personnel to halt this brutal assault.”
Names Released
Both individuals killed in the attack at Heaton Park synagogue in north Manchester on Thursday were identified as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz.
These individuals were killed when a car was used to ram into the grounds of the local Jewish place of worship, then stabbed worshippers in a six-minute rampage that concluded after armed officers fired upon him, killing him near the synagogue entrance.
Additional Injuries
Three others were seriously injured in the attack on the Day of Atonement, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.
The chief constable added, “We have also been advised that one of the three victims currently receiving treatment has also suffered a firearm injury, which is fortunately non-fatal. Officials think both victims were near each other behind the synagogue door, as attendees showed courage to prevent the attacker from getting inside.”

Suspect Background
Police named the perpetrator as the individual, thirty-five, a UK national of Syrian descent.
Greater Manchester police said that three additional individuals – two male suspects and an older female – had been detained “on suspicion of involvement in planning of terrorist activities”.
